UNITED NATIONS, CMC – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced Monday the appointment of Daniela Kroslak of Germany as his Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the newly established United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH).
She previously served as Chief of Staff in the United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH) and in various other senior positions at United Nations Headquarters and with the UN in the field, including Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda, as well as with the International Crisis Group in Kenya.
The UN said that Kroslak, who holds a doctorate in International Politics and a bachelor’s degree in international history and international politics, brings to this position over 25 years of experience in political affairs, peace operations, and mission leadership, including extensive service in fragile transition contexts.
“She has a distinguished record in strategic and organizational leadership, high-level coordination, mediation, and human rights. Most recently, Ms. Kroslak served as lead Facilitator of the Review of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in 2025, and before that as the lead of the Independent Strategic and Civilian Staffing Review of the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) in 2024.”
The UN also said that Kroslak served as the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Deputy Head of Mission in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), a role she held until the mission concluded its mandate in December 2023.
