Police in Jamaica have charged a man recently deported from The Bahamas as part of a group of 85 inmates granted early release and removed to their home countries.

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – A man who was recently deported from the Bahamas has been charged by police in connection with a 2016 gun attack in the old capital, Spanish Town, in the central parish of St Catherine.

Akeem Jackson, 31, otherwise known as ‘Bobo Sparks,’ of Twickenham Park, is charged with two counts of shooting with intent, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, using a firearm to commit an offence, and malicious destruction of property.

The police report that on September 28, 2016, Jackson and his accomplices, all armed with firearms, went to a woman’s home. During the incident, Jackson allegedly opened fire on the house.

The occupants managed to escape unharmed. The matter was reported to the police, and an investigation was launched. The police say that during the probe, it was revealed that Jackson had fled the island.

Last Friday, he was deported from the Bahamas and apprehended during an intelligence-led operation, police reported. Following a question-and-answer session, Jackson was formally charged. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
