DURBAN, South Africa, CMC – Skipper Aiden Markram smashed a century and Sunil Narine impressed with the ball to guide the Durban Super Giants to a comprehensive 58-run victory over the Paarl Royals when the SA20 continued here on Saturday.
Markram clobbered 108 from 58 balls with 12 fours and five sixes as the Super Giants posted a formidable 189 for seven in their 20 overs.
He received support from Heinrich Klassen, who made 29 from 21 balls, while Kane Williamson struck 22 from 20 balls.
Ardus Viljoen was the Royals’ best bowler with 4-21 from his four overs.
Narine, who only made four runs batting at the top of the order, made up for that failure by grabbing 2-18 from his four overs as the Royals were restricted to 131 for nine in their 20 overs.
Bjorn Fortuin led the Royals with an unbeaten 35 from 24 balls, Kyle Verreynne made 23, while Sikandar Raza made 21 in an otherwise disappointing batting display.
