KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Monday, confirmed that National Security and Peace Minister, Dr Horace Chang, is “recovering” after undergoing an elective procedure.
In a message posted on X, Prime Minister Holness provided no further details about his deputy prime minister’s health.

But a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister said that Chang, 73, had undergone the procedure over the last weekend and is expected to make a full recovery.
“We wish our deputy prime minister a speedy recovery and a quick resumption of duties,” it said without providing any further details about the procedure.
Chang is a medical doctor by profession, serving in both the public and private sectors, where he made significant contributions to the development of a modern public health system for Jamaicans.
His political career began in 1976 as an active member of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).
In the meantime, Prime Minister Holness will oversee the operations of the Ministry of National Security and Peace.
