KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC -The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) has pushed back the release of the upcoming voters’ list from November 30, 2025, to December 20, 2025, following the impact on the island caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The agency announced the postponement in a release, stating that the storm’s impact has hindered operations across several parishes.
Director of Elections Glasspole Brown said the decision was unavoidable given the scale of damage to communities, infrastructure, and EOJ facilities. We are sensitive to the needs of people at this time and cognisant of the time it will take to return to some semblance of normality. Taking all these factors into consideration, we decided to delay the publication of the list by three weeks,” he said.
The deferred publication will also delay the issuance of voter ID cards for individuals added to the updated list. Electors are expected to begin collecting their ID cards in January 2026.
