Teen star Kashyap brings silver home for Antigua in table tennis

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, CMC – Stuti Kashyap, the prodigious table tennis talent from Antigua and Barbuda, has done it again.

Just weeks after making history in Argentina, the rising star is back on the international podium, this time capturing a silver medal in the Under-19 Mixed Doubles at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender San Francisco III 2025.

Partnering with Rishi Pendse of the United States, Kashyap formed a formidable duo that battled through a gauntlet of top-tier opponents at the famed 888 Table Tennis Centre in San Francisco.

Their path to the final was a masterclass in nerve and determination, featuring consecutive five-set marathons.

They clawed their way past a strong Singaporean team in the quarterfinals before staging an epic semifinal battle against a USA/Taiwan partnership, clinching a heart-stopping 13-11 victory in the decisive fifth game.

The thrilling run set up a championship match against the formidable South African pair of Bosman Botha and Rin Mende. While the Antiguans fought hard, they ultimately fell to the top seeds in straight sets (8-11, 5-11, 9-11) to secure the well-earned silver medal.

This latest triumph adds a brilliant silver lining to what has been a trailblazing fortnight for Kashyap.

It follows her historic bronze medal performance at the ITTF Pan American Youth Championships in Rosario, Argentina, marking an unprecedented period of success for Antigua and Barbuda in the sport.

Charles ‘Chucky’ Bellot, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA), hailed the achievement.

“These back-to-back medals reflect Stuti’s growing maturity, resilience, and hunger to compete at the highest level. We’re incredibly proud of what she’s accomplished, not just for herself, but for the sport and for youth athletes across the region.”
