LAUDERHILL, Florida, CMC – Veteran West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder is hoping that Saturday’s thrilling last-ball win over Pakistan will serve to reignite the confidence of the regional side as they go in search of a series-winning victory on Sunday.
The West Indies entered Saturday’s match at Broward County Stadium on a six-match losing streak and losers of 19 of their last completed T20I encounters, including a 5-0 whitewash at the hands of Australia at home last month.
In desperate need of a win to stay alive in the three-match series against Pakistan after losing Thursday’s opener by 14 runs, the West Indies, led by Holder, who hit a boundary off the last ball of the match, secured a two-wicket win to level the series at 1-1.

Holder also starred with the ball, taking 4-19 to become the West Indies’ highest wicket-taker in T20Is. Speaking in a post-match interview, Holder admitted that the side was short of confidence going into the match.
However, he said he hoped the result would lead to a change of fortune for the regional outfit. “We’ve not played well over the last couple of weeks, and we haven’t had momentum, and we haven’t had luck.
“Having said that, I think hopefully this game should turn things around, should give the guys some confidence, and we need confidence,” Holder said.
“We could see that when we played, we probably lacked a little confidence, and I think that goes with momentum, so I think that if we can get some momentum going now, even into the ODIs, it would put us in good stead.
“It’s not rocket science that we haven’t played well, we know we need to improve, but having said that I still think that we are doing a lot of things well, so I think we just need to find ways to put together a complete game and be a little more confident and a little more expressive,” Holder said.
