Arnett Gardens and Club Franciscan shine in CFU Club Shield match

MIAMI, Florida, CMC – The 2025 CFU Club Shield delivered thrilling action on Sunday as six group-stage matches took place across Trinidad and Tobago, with defending champions Arnett Gardens and Club Franciscain securing emphatic victories.

At the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, SV Transvaal cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolues FC. Giorgio Bhoi broke the deadlock with a stunning free-kick in the 26th minute, before Álvaro Keizerweerd doubled the lead in the 69th.

Jamairo Hecbert sealed the victory deep into stoppage time with a long-range strike.

In the same venue, All Saints United overpowered SCSA Eagles 3-1 with a commanding first-half display.

Kendukar Challenger forced an own goal in the 10th minute, followed by Tiquan Isaac’s close-range finish in the 17th.

Raheem Deterville added a third just before halftime. Romario Chilin pulled one back for SCSA in the 63rd, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.

At Hasely Crawford Stadium, Weymouth, Wales secured a solid 3-1 victory over Police FC, thanks to a brace from Andre Applewhaite, who struck in the 3rd and 43rd minutes.

Police FC’s Kwesi Allen pulled one back before halftime, but Applewhaite turned provider late on, setting up Romario Harewood for the clincher in the 88th minute.

Club Franciscain put on a masterclass at Ato Boldon Stadium, demolishing Doc’s United 6-1. Philippe Clervil 3rd, Mathis Priam 4th, and Christof Jougon’s 38th-minute strike had the Martinique side up 3-0 by halftime.

Sylvanus James briefly reduced the deficit, but Franciscan responded with three more. Johnny Marajo 56th, Axel Delor 84th, and Priam’s penalty in stoppage time completed the rout.

In a tightly contested match, AC Port of Spain edged Scholars International at Hasely Crawford Stadium. Josiah Wilson’s 28th-minute opener was cancelled out by Christopher Brown’s equaliser early in the second half.

However, Jean-Heim McFee’s 85th-minute winner secured all three points for the Trinidadian side.

The defending champions, Arnett Gardens, made a statement with a dominant 4-0 victory over Dublanc FC. Giovanni Taylor opened the scoring in the 9th minute, before Shai Smith netted twice in quick succession in the 12th and 16th minutes.

Chantamoi Taylor added a fourth in stoppage time, ensuring Arnett Gardens began their title defence in style.
