BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Two-time defending champions Settlers all but cemented a playoff spot in the Bim10 cricket tournament with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the winless Voyagers on Saturday.

Voyagers produced their best performance of the competition, with opener Rashawn Worrell striking 58 from 20 balls to help propel his team to 130 for three from their 10 overs.

Akeem Springer finished unbeaten on 29, while captain Giovonte Depeiza slammed 24 from 10 balls. Kadeem Alleyne was Settlers’ best bowler with 2-24 from his two overs.

However, opener Zachary Carter smashed 46 from 22 balls, Kevin Wickham blasted an unbeaten 38 from 22 balls, and Nicholas Kirton bludgeoned 28 from six deliveries as the Settlers completed a sensational chase, finishing on 134 for two from 9.4 overs.

The win sent them to the top of the table on 20 points, with five victories from six games, the same record as the Warriors but with a superior net run rate.

In the earlier game, the Warriors romped to a five-wicket victory over the Guardians, recording their fifth win.

Preston McSween finished with impressive figures of 3-5 from his two overs to limit Guardians to 96 for five in their 10 overs.

Zidan Harewood then top-scored with 30, and the Warriors ended on 96 with five off 9.1 overs.
