ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – The Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce has lauded the swift response from the government, the local authorities, citizens, the diaspora, and our regional and international partners in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

In a statement, the Chamber said the storm tested the nation’s strength.

“ We have faith in our people and believe Grenada will emerge stronger and more resilient…..our history proves our capacity to recover. We are encouraged by the swift response. We commend the government’s immediate action in addressing urgent needs and its strategic vision for a robust recovery.”

The Chamber also reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating closely with the government and all stakeholders to support and expedite recovery efforts.

The Chamber says it is committed to partnering with businesses and international organizations to provide essential support to the affected, work with the government to implement policies for rapid recovery and sustainability, promote innovative solutions that restore and enhance communities, and encourage community-led initiatives focused on rebuilding and strengthening social cohesion.

“The Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed to the relief efforts. We urge the business community and citizens to continue their generous support in rebuilding our beloved Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.”

Hurricane Beryl made landfall on the tiny island of Grenada on Monday as a Category 4, wiping out much of the island’s electrical infrastructure, homes, and agriculture.

Grenada’s prime minister described sweeping destruction on the Caribbean nation’s island of Carriacou as “almost Armageddon-like.”

Beryl, the earliest storm to develop into a Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic, caused at least 11 deaths as it passed through the Caribbean islands earlier in the week.
