PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – The United States Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Security Agreements and Foreign Policy Advisors, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Linda Specht, is to visit Trinidad and Tobago early next week, the U.S. Embassy here has announced.

It said Specht will visit the island from March 4-6 and meet with government ministers for bilateral discussions on advancing the robust security cooperation between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago.

“Her visit follows the very successful visit of Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley to the United States last month,” the Embassy said, adding that “Specht is the lead negotiator for bilateral defense agreements that involve access, status protections, and burden sharing.

“With more than 30 years’ experience in the Foreign Service, she has held key positions in political, political-military, and economic affairs both at the State Department and in U.S. embassies and consulates around the world,” the Embassy added.
