WASHINGTON, CMC – Jamaica’s Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, is chairing a four-day meeting of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Executive Council that began here on Monday.
Tufton is the president of the Executive Council, and representatives from PAHO’s member states are attending the meeting.
The 172nd Session will consider matters, strategic communications in public health for behavior change, strategy for universal access to health, and the COVID-19 pandemic in the region of the Americas.
The Executive Committee meets twice annually to discuss the organization’s budget, policies and address critical health concerns in the region. It comprises nine PAHO member countries elected by the Pan American Sanitary Conference or the Directing Council to serve for three years.
