WINNIPEG, Manitoba, CMC: Barbadian Antonio Whitehall grabbed another brace at Assiniboia Downs on Tuesday as he continued to dominate the early exchanges at the central Canada oval.

The 29-year-old won race two with an 8-1 choice Captive Kitten and returned to capture race four with a 4-1 bet Go in Gorgeous to move to 17 wins from 55 rides for the season, which got underway May 22.

There was a success for several other Caribbean riders. Renaldo Cumberbatch took race three over six furlongs with a 5-1 chance Damn the Torpedoes in a front-running victory, while fellow Barbadian Damario Bynoe scored in a 5-½ furlong dash in race five with a 2-1 bet Kentucky Jake.

Ronald Ali snatched race six in another 5-½ furlong sprint with favorite Drop a Caribou, while fellow Trinidadian Prayven Badrie combined with 4-1 choice Lady Creative to win over 5-½ furlongs in the final race of the seven-race program.

In the hunt for his third Assiniboia Downs title, Whitehall opened his account in a CAN$10 400 claiming when he guided eight-year-old chestnut gelding Captive Kitten to a 1-½ length win over the three-year-olds and upward.

Nineteen-to-one outsider That’s D ’cat led early and gave way to favorite Lucky Luke, who led briefly on the backstretch before Whitehall roused Captive Kitten to take the lead for good in mid-stretch.

Whitehall’s second success came in a 5-½ furlong sprint when he paired with three-year-old filly Go in Gorgeous to beat the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares by 1-¼ lengths.
