GEORGETOWN, Guyana, The Guyana-owned ACE Professional Services and Business Development Consultancy, Wednesday said it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with an Indian-based company, Squadron, to take further advantage of the oil and gas industry here

In a statement, ACE said that the MOU seeks to formalize a teaming agreement to recruit skilled Indian nationals for highly specialized roles to support the rapidly-growing oil and gas sector in Guyana.

“This partnership seeks to solve the manpower and labor challenges currently faced within Guyana’s economy,” the company said.

ACE officials are among the delegation of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who is ending a seven-day visit to New Delhi and conferred with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award given to persons of Indian origin living outside of the sub-continent. Ali also held “comprehensive discussions” with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on various issues.

“As Guyana works to build capacity locally for the current and emerging needs of the country, this arrangement provides an immediate opportunity to solve the critical labor requirements in the oil and gas sector,” said ACE lead representative Dr. Rosh Khan.

“It also creates a platform for internationally-certified personnel to train Guyanese. This is key for successfully transferring knowledge and skills to our local workforce. It should also be noted that we look forward to working with all of the relevant authorities to ensure full compliance with local and international laws,” he added.

Squadron’s chief executive officer, Rajan Singh, said, “we are pleased to partner with ACE and look forward to a fruitful engagement. I would also like to thank Mr. Komal Singh, who assisted in facilitating this joint venture”.
