“Today, it is my privilege to be here supporting Hercules Reid in his campaign for the 58th Assembly District,” said Joseph Geiger, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the New York City District Council of Carpenters. “This race is personal for 20,000-member strong New York City Carpenters because Hercules has been a part of our family for years. His father is a proud union carpenter and a delegate. But even if there weren’t that personal connection, Hercules would still be our choice. He has the experience, the connections, and the commitment that this district deserves.”

“I am so proud to have the New York City District Council of Carpenters here with me today,” said Reid. “I am who I am today because I grew up in a union home, as the son of a Carpenters union member. I’m running for Assembly to be an advocate for workers, to fight for workplace protections, and to ensure our working families have the support they need to thrive here.”

Democrat Hercules Reid is an activist, organizer, community advocate, and the son of Jamaican immigrant union members. He previously served as an Assistant to the Deputy Brooklyn Borough President and advised on youth and education justice, safety, health, and housing. He’s been endorsed by several community leaders, including Minister John Williams of New Creation Ministries, Inc., former CUNY student trustee Chika Onyejiukwa, Vice President of 500 Men Making a Difference Cyriac St. Vil, and Haitian-American community leader Sander Cameau.

Pending Assemblymember Perry’s confirmation as Ambassador to Jamaica leading to a special election, the Primary Election will be held on June 28th, 2022.
