UNITED STATES-US Customs partners seize nearly five tons of cocaine at sea

WASHINGTON, CMC – The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says, together with several US federal partners, they have seized nearly five tons of cocaine in three events in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.

CBP said the seizure has denied transnational criminal organizations an estimated US$127 million in proceeds.

In a statement over the weekend, the CBP said that in three interdictions done between October 7-9, a total of 9,652 pounds or 4.8 tons of cocaine was seized.

So far this year, CBP said its actions have resulted in 967 arrests and 134,981 apprehensions of undocumented Caribbean and other individuals, as well as the seizure or disruption of 250,616 pounds of cocaine, 1,475 pounds of fentanyl, 25,625 pounds of methamphetamine, 1,342 weapons.
