MIAMI, CMC – The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, says he will send illegal Haitian migrants arriving in South Florida to upscale Democratic strongholds like Martha’s Vineyard, an island best known as the summer home of the American jet set and Presidents of the United States

“We do have our transport program… that’s going to be operational,” DeSantis said about the mass transportation of migrants away from border states. “Haitians land in the Florida Keys; their next stop very well may be Martha’s Vineyard.”

DeSantis has deployed dozens of officers and soldiers, as well as helicopters, drones, and boats, to patrol the South Florida coast for any illegal migrant boats…

“……I’ve got to defend my State,” he said. “I’ve got enough issues just dealing with people fleeing from blue states moving to Florida.”

Florida deployed forces earlier this month in anticipation of increased Haitian migration to the state by boat as violence grows in their country.

Haiti is in turmoil as an estimated 15,000 people have been driven from their homes as powerful gangs recently attacked prisons and airports in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

According to the United Nations, more than 1,190 people in Haiti have been killed since the start of the year.

In September 2022, DeSantis made national headlines when he flew 50 migrants from Venezuela to Martha’s Vineyard, saying states with sanctuary policies should take care of them.

Massachusetts relocated the migrants to Joint Base Cape Cod, where they received housing and other services.

Massachusetts is dealing with a crisis of its own from an influx of migrants.

The state’s emergency shelter system hit capacity in November, and dozens of families had nowhere to sleep at Boston’s Logan Airport.
