PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Two police officers married to each other have found themselves on the wrong side of the law, facing money laundering and gambling charges.

Police Constables Andrew Peters and Simone Massy

Police Constable Andrew Peters, 43, and his 31-year-old wife, Woman Police Constable Simone Massy, were charged following advice from Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard.

They were each granted TT$100,000 (US$14,717) bail with a surety by Justice of the Peace Stephen Young on Tuesday.

Peters, who was last attached to the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB), and Massy, who was with the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, were jointly charged with using their premises as a typical gaming house for illegal gambling and money laundering.

Their arrests followed an exercise conducted by officers of the PSB when a search warrant was executed at their residence in Chaguanas. Several items were allegedly seized, including gambling machines.
