The privately-owned Trans Guyana Airways (TGA) Tuesday announced that it would be introducing five weekly flights into Barbados beginning on November 1.
The airline said that the flights from the Eugene F. Correia International airport would facilitate travel to and from Barbados and connections with some of the major airlines servicing the Grantley Adamas International Airport.
“Our procedures are updated regularly in keeping with the most current guidelines from Government and International Agencies with particular emphasis on controlling the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff is our number one priority,” the airline, which is a member company of The Correia Group of Companies, said in a statement.
It said that the flights would occur on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and all passengers are required to present a negative PCR Test taken within 72 hours before departure.
Trans Guyana Airways said it could arrange the PCR test for an additional fee for passengers departing from Ogle.
According to the company’s website, TGA currently owns and operates an expanding fleet of eight aircraft and two flights daily to Suriname.
Before the shutdown of borders, the cash-strapped regional airline, LIAT, was among airlines providing a service between the two Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries. LIAT is now undergoing a re-capitalization programmed and is due to return to the skies next month.
