ST. KITTS-Deputy Prime Minister heads delegation to Taiwan.

According to an official statement, BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, CMC – Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley is heading a five-member delegation to Taiwan.

It said Hanley would meet with Taiwan Vice President Lai Ching-te to exchange views on bilateral cooperation and hold talks with Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.

The delegation will visit several schools, industries, and a wind farm.

St. Kitts-Nevis is among a handful of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries with diplomatic relations with Taiwan that China regards as a renegade province.

The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1983. The statement said that both countries have enjoyed close cooperation and exchanges in numerous areas, including education, social development, agriculture, medicine and public health, renewable energy, and information and communications technology.
The statement said that the delegation returns on Saturday.
