The versatile and talented Ronaldo London is the new Trinidad and Tobago Calypso Monarch.
London, who also holds the 2019 Young King title, dethroned former champion Helon Francis in the recently concluded 2019 Trinidad and Tobago Carnival with his song ‘Man’s Imagination’ to take the coveted title. He won $700,000 for his efforts. Karene Asche placed second and won $400,000 while Francis placed third and won $200,000.
London’s win gives his family its fifth title. Brian London, his uncle, won the 2019 Extempo title on the same night, beating Black Sage into second place. Brian now holds the Ken ‘Professor’ Philmore calypso competition title that was held in San Fernando. London’s brother Rivaldo is also the Junior Calypso Monarch.
