ASUNCION, Paraguay, CMC—Veda Bruno-Victor of Grenada made history by being elected First Vice President of PANAM Sports during the organization’s Congress in Paraguay on Wednesday.
As one of three vice presidents chosen, Bruno-Victor assumes the most prestigious role, becoming the highest-ranking vice president within the continental sports body.
Meanwhile, Neven Ilic of Chile successfully defended his position in the presidential race, defeating Keith Joseph of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Joseph, also the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) president, could not unseat the incumbent, with Ilic securing a decisive 37-16 victory.
The PANAM Sports vice presidency was categorized into three groups:
Group 1:
3rd Vice President: Sarah Hirshland (USA) Members: Mario Garcia (Mexico), Tricia Smith (Canada), Damaris Young (Panama).
Group 2: 1st Vice President: Veda Bruno-Victor (Grenada) Members: Alfred Emmanuel (Saint Lucia), Dennis Knight (Saint Kitts and Nevis), Roberto Richards (Cuba)
Group 3: 2nd Vice President: Camilo Pérez (Paraguay)
Members: Nicole Hoevertsz (Aruba), Mario Moccia (Argentina), Jorge Delgado (Ecuador).
In the meantime, Panam Sports also presented two critical awards to the Olympic Committees of Saint Lucia and Dominica for their outstanding and historic participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
