LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

1.. CHILL WAS ALWAYS THERE!
Dear Editor,
I agree that the recent frigid temperatures have been uncomfortable, but New York has always had historically cold winters, especially for persons who grew up in the 1950’s through to the 1970’s.
However, in recent decades people seem to be complaining more about the cold weather today, because we have been conditioned not to expect such cold winters.
The first reaction is not to question the validity of climate change.
But folks, do not worry, it will soon be 50 degrees, and most will cease thinking about climate change.

2.. IMPEACHMENT VIEWS !
Dear Editor,
As it now stands, a President can be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors.
It’s a pity that a President cannot be impeached for stupidity, narcissism, vanity, self-importance, cruelty, bragging, foolishness, and sheer ignorance.
It will take a special person, when this awful era is over, to restore dignity to the Office of the President.
I sincerely hope that I shall still be alive to see it.
Marcia E.

3.. RIDERS SHOULD PAY !
Dear Editor,
With congestion-pricing being forced down the throats of New Yorkers for the benefit of the rat hole-aka the MTA.
Might I suggest something?-that since the subway and bus fares have been kept artificially low for decades, strap hangers should be prepared to dig a lot deeper if they want better service.
It is unfair to force motorists to fork over more money for services that they do not use.
The cost of a fare should reflect the real cost of a ride.
In the final analysis, it is time for the relevant Governmental Officials and the Directorate of the MTA to continue to strive to make that Authority a self-sufficient Entity.

4.. LEAVE CATHOLICS ALONE !
Dear Editor,
The sky is not falling, but fate is attacking, and the Roman Catholic Church with all of its scandals has become easy prey for a vulture-politician like Gov. Cuomo, who himself grew up within that church.
The first Amendment was meant to protect religion against vulture politicians.
Gov.Cuomo is playing to a segment of the population which hates the Roman Catholic Church, not over scandals, but the morals that church members believe in.
Now some people might think that I am a pig for having such views, but that is not possible, because I am Kosher.
Gary S.

5.. WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE!
Dear Editor,
What we have in the American Congress since Mr.Trump became President is totally ridiculous.
Democrats against Republicans, with Trump in the middle.
Petty arguments with each other, and the American people being damned.
As someone once said, “what we have here is a failure to communicate.”
The job of Congress is to–both Democrats and Republicans is to serve the American people by working out their differences and coming to compromises.
The Congressional Representatives are not doing that, they are too busy looking out for themselves.
Francisco M.

6.. LET’S MIND OUR BUSINESS!
Dear Editor,
The United States’ reaction to the results of the recent elections in Venezuela is embarrassing.
What if other countries had chosen to recognize Hillary Clinton instead of Donald Trump as President.
Who are we to question the voting machines in Venezuela?
I suggest that we become more concerned with the Socialists being elected to our own Congress, and be less concerned with  the will of voters in another country.
The United States has no business meddling in the Venezuelan elections, because our Congress cannot even manage itself or our own President
Stephen H.
