LIFTING WOMEN JOURNALISTS!
Dear Editor,
The field would still be male-dominated if it were not for Barbara Walters breaking down barriers for women journalists and news anchors.
Walters’ tough-minded strength and determination inspired many girls and young women everywhere and still shape generations of brilliant women journalists.
Her influence is a mainstay…Walters was a class act and will never be forgotten.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY!
Dear Editor,
Having had so much to live for, Lisa Marie Presley’s tragic and untimely death is indeed sad.
While some may ponder whether her family is cursed, struggling with a drug addiction may have had more to do with her death than anything else.
Like her famous father-Elvis, Presley, Carrie Fisher, and many others—addiction is the perfect prescription for early death.
Rest In Peace, Lisa Marie Presley.

WHY DID HE GIVE AWAY THE STORE?
Dear Editor,
After a historic battle, Kevin McArthy finally won the House Speakership, but he had to promise the far-right and the Freedom Caucus more Power in the House…What does it mean, practically speaking, for the rest of us?
More conservative bills are being passed in the House but being killed in the Senate—a Legislative deadlock; more investigations of the Biden Administration and calls for his impeachment; numerous economic crises and stock market nosedives as the House delays raising or outright refuses to raise the U.S. debt ceiling or to fund Government spending; near complete frustration of the Biden Administration and its agenda for the next two years.
If one likes excitement, hates new laws, opposes abortion, doesn’t own any stocks or need any Government money-like, like Social Security loans or entitlements, and does not care if Russia takes over Ukraine, this could be a fun time for you.

STOP BUILDING TOWERS!
Dear Editor,
People want to work from home, and many companies are allowing them to do so…Hence building more towers that may remain empty makes little sense.
Existing offices should be filled before building new towers…Instead, Governor Hochul, why not improve the trains?

NEW YORKERS ARE FLEEING!
Dear Editor,
You are mistaken if you think New Yorkers are fleeing because of taxes.
As happened in the late 60s and early 70s, they are leaving due to the deteriorating quality of life, poor schools, and horrible traffic due to bike racks, sidewalk eateries, and other concessions to the bike riders.
The threat of congestion pricing also insults those who drive, who are usually the high earners…There are many reasons other than taxes.

RENAMING NEW YORK!
Dear Editor,
The cure for New York’s population shrinkage is to carve out New York City as its State and call it Old Amsterdam.
This opens the possibility of creating reasonable Government and policies by the remaining people of the State, devoid of the radical approaches generated by the majority of the population and Leadership in the five Boroughs.
For starters, education, business development, and healthcare run by new and prudent Leadership would breathe life into this State, which is on life support…Under this scenario, people would stay.

HE WAS SO GOOD AND KIND!
Dear Editor,
On December 23, the MTA and its beloved riders lost a beautiful soul—Paul Galietti Paul, who was 78 years old.
He had 52 years of service driving the local and express buses…He was the oldest and had the most service driving in Queens…He had a heart of gold, evidenced by the number of fellow workers and riders who went to his wake.
In 1978, I moved to Bayside, and my eight-year-old son was in the City with my brother; unfortunately, they separated, and my son did not know which bus to take home and was visibly upset.
Paul pulled up to see him, got off the bus, spoke with him, and drove him home.
The following day, I went to the bus stop and waited until every bus passed to meet Paul and thank him…We later became good friends for 40 years…He was known by all, loved by all, and will be missed by all…May he Rest In Peace.

SOME RECOMMENDED RESOLUTIONS!
Dear Editor,
Making New Year’s resolutions is a beautiful idea for individuals and societies.
May I suggest a few resolutions—stop hating and persecuting people due to their gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation; be more careful and alert when driving your car and bicycle; find one or a few ways to help improve the environment and implement them; and proofread what you write on social media…Here’s to a better year in 2023.
