Dear Editor,
We are better than this.
It is never okay to belittle a people because of their religion, race, country of origin, gender, sexual-preference or disability.
When our leaders disparage a people, it encourages individuals, downtrodden and with no hope of a better life, to blame others and sometimes all too often, commit horrific acts as at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
If our leaders set a poor example, then we must ourselves be caring and compassionate as is our wont.
We are Americans, and we are better than this.
