KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a fetus in the sewer at the Corporate Area-based Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) earlier this week.

The fetus, believed to be around three months gestation, was found by a maintenance operator while cleaning the sewer underneath the hospital’s basement late Thursday.

According to the regional director of the South East Regional Health Authority, Errol Greene, the fetus could not have been there for more than a few hours before it was discovered, as the sewer system is cleaned daily.

He asked anyone with information to contact the police. He added that the investigators had already taken control of all the security cameras and had been interviewing hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, and the hospital’s security personnel.
