TORONTO, Canada, CMC – Barbadian Rico Walcott finds Woodbine a tough nut to crack.

A multiple-times champion in Alberta, where he dominated Century Mile and the now defunct Northlands Park, the 33-year-old moved his tack to Woodbine this season but has surprisingly gone 12 rides without a single win in the two-week-old campaign.

His latest disappointments came on Sunday when he failed to score in two outings on the nine-race card, finishing fifth in race one with 27-1 longshot Loaded Mistress and sixth in race two with 9-1 choice One More Ring.

He watched, however, as fellow countryman Jason Hoyte logged his fourth winner of the season when the 36-year-old paired with another 9-1 bet Candy Street to win the 5-½ furlong sprint in race two for the three-year-old maidens.

Walcott showed early with One More Ring, under pressure from Joe Chrome and favorite Pidgin before fading, as Hoyte brought Candy Street from just off the pace to win by half-length.

Going 6-½ furlongs in the day’s opener for the three-year-old and upward maiden fillies and mares, Walcott settled Loaded Mistress mid-pack as the eventual winner, 3-1 chance Tipsy Moon, set the early fractions.

However, Walcott found precious little rally from the three-year-old chestnut filly in the run to the wire and drifted down the field.
