ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada–Police have charged a 24-year-old Guyanese national with murder, more than four months after the victim had been buried.
Police said that Shane Ann Ambrose of Nonso, New Amsterdam, Berbice, in Guyana, who resided at Simon, St. Andrew, was arrested and formally charged with the murder of Clifford Marshall. The latter died in June and was buried in July 2021.
Ambrose has since been remanded into custody at Her Majesty’s Prisons and will return to court on November 12.
In August, police confirmed an active criminal investigation into the death of Marshall after Ambrose, in a social media video posting, claimed that she gave him poison and is not sure if she caused his death.
“I don’t know if I killed him, but I gave him poison,” she said in the video, adding that she had been in a three-year relationship with Marshall.
“I gave him weedless poison; I don’t know if I killed him, but I know to myself that I gave him, I do it, and it just hurt me. This is the first time I did something like this; I would not take it anymore, so I had to, I don’t know,” she said in the video, tears rolling down her cheeks.
She claimed in the video that she was physically abused and that he had threatened her life and sexually assaulted her three-year-old daughter on more than one occasion.
