ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – An investigation is now underway after a fire that broke out early Friday morning in the capital of St. George’s destroyed several business places.
“As far as we know, two buildings have been damaged so far,” said Corporal Michael Redhead of the Community Relations Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force.
He explained that drones were used to guide the firefighters in containing and controlling the fire, which destroyed a liquor store, an appliance store, a beauty salon, and a clothing and textile store.
‘The fire department, along with volunteer firefighters, also used rescue instruments such as a rescue saw and an entry bolt cutter, sledgehammers, and other equipment to control the fire on a street where buildings are within proximity of each other, and several businesses are located in one building.
Redhead told reporters that an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire and ascertain if the blaze or the smoke had damaged more businesses.
