KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Jamaica’s Senior Women’s National Team, the Reggae Girlz, will face a formidable challenge this summer as they face England’s Lionesses in a high-profile international friendly on June 29 at King Power Stadium in Leicester.

This historic encounter marks the first-ever meeting between the two nations in women’s football. The Reggae Girlz, fresh off their June 3 showdown against the United States in St. Louis, will test themselves against the reigning European champions and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup runners-up.

The match is a key tune-up for England ahead of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in July. Jamaica continues preparing for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers in October.

Reggae Girlz Head Coach Hubert Busby expressed excitement about the fixture. “We’re thrilled for this opportunity to face England in June. Our passionate diaspora, especially in the Midlands and the UK, will undoubtedly come out in full force to support the team. Matches like these are vital as we gear up for World Cup qualifiers later this year.”

England Manager Sarina Wiegman also shared her thoughts on what she believes is crucial preparations for her team.”This is an excellent final test before the Euros. Jamaica presents a tough challenge, although they’re a team we’ve never played before, and their growth, especially at the last World Cup, has been impressive. It’ll be a great occasion in a stadium where we’ve had strong performances before.”
