BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC—Prime Minister Mia Mottley has congratulated the president of the Barbados Football Association (BFA), Randy Harris, on being elected to the FIFA Council.
Harris, who is also president of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), made history on Saturday when he became the first Barbadian to be elected to the prestigious FIFA Council during the 40th Ordinary Congress of the Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf), which was held in St. Lucia.
In a post on social media, Mottley described Harris’ election as a “well-deserved achievement.”
“A historic moment for Barbados! “Big congratulations to Randy Harris on his election to the FIFA Council, the first Barbadian to ever hold a position on this high-level football body,” Mottley said.
“With nearly five decades of dedication and leadership in football administration in Barbados and the Caribbean, this is a well-deserved achievement.
“We look forward to seeing you champion local and regional football globally,” the Prime Minister added.
