CASTRIES, St Lucia, CMC—On Saturday, Randy Harris, President of the Barbados Football Association (BFA), became the first Barbadian to be elected to the prestigious FIFA Council during the 40th Ordinary Congress of the Confederation of North Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf), which is being held in St. Lucia.
Harris joins re-elected Caribbean representative Sonia Fulford of the Turks and Caicos Islands on the Council, while Martinique’s Maurice Victoire was re-elected to the Concacaf Council.
As a result, the 69-year-old Harris, also the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) president, revealed he would not seek re-election.
However, Harris, who has spent almost five decades as a football administrator, said he planned to continue as president of the BFA.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be elected as a member of the FIFA Council.
“I am looking forward to being able to strengthen the region’s voice at the global table and to continue to support the FIFA president’s vision in the development of football globally,” Harris said.
