LONDON, Feb 13, CMC – Teenager Shaq Forde lashed in his ninth goal of the League One season as Leyton Orient edged Northampton Town 4-3 in a pulsating contest at Brisbane Road.

The 19-year-old, whose father Fabian Forde represented Barbados at international level, scored in the 58th minute to restore the home side’s lead at 2-1 before substitute Ruel Sotiriou scored the second of his two goals deep in stoppage time to earn Orient the points.

They are currently eighth on 48 points, seven points off the playoff spots, while Northampton Town remains 12th on 41 points.

“It was a brilliant night and a brilliant performance – full of young, exciting, talented players, full of energy, and it would have been a travesty had we not won it,” Orient manager Richie Wellens said Tuesday.

Ollie O’Neill was first on the scoresheet in the 35th minute to put Orient ahead, curling a low cross past goalkeeper Louie Moulden.

Marc Leonard then equalized in first-half stoppage with a deflected shot from the edge of the box, leaving the game square at the break.

Forde scored a double ten days ago as Orient beat Carlisle 3-2, then put the hosts in front again nearing the hour mark when he swept in a rebound after Moulden parried the initial shot from O’Neill.

Kieron Bowie equalized for the visitors in the 77th, and Sotiriou netted his first three minutes later to restore Orient’s advantage before substitute Tyreece Simpson extended the see-sawed battle in the 83rd with yet another leveler for Northampton Town.

The two teams appeared destined to share the points when Sotiriou pounced on a ball over the top from defender Brandon Cooper to beat Moulden with his volley.
