LONDON– Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott has joined Danish club Vejle on a season-long loan from English Premier League outfit West Ham United.

Trott, who has had previous loan spells at English club AFC Wimbledon and last year at French club Nancy, signed a contract extension with West Ham until the summer of 2024, with a further two-year option.

West Ham said in a statement: “We can confirm that goalkeeper Nathan Trott has joined Danish First Division leaders Vejle on a season-long loan.”

“The 23-year-old, who signed a new contract with the Hammers in the summer, will spend the 2022/23 campaign with the Reds, with the Irons [West Ham] having the option to recall him in January.”

Trott, who made his West Ham debut as a substitute in a 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over Doncaster Rovers at London Stadium in January 2021, has previously spent time on loan at League One club AFC Wimbledon and French Ligue 2 side Nancy.

“Everyone at the club wishes Nathan the best for his loan spell in Denmark,” the statement added.

Trott, who joined West Ham at 16, has earned praise from the club’s goalkeeper, coach Xavi Valero.

“Nathan is a promising young goalkeeper with a bright future. He’s got a fantastic attitude to his day-to-day work,” the Spaniard said after the Bermudian signed his contract extension in June. Vejle was founded in 1891 as a cricket club and became a football club in 1902
