LONDON, CMC – Cameron Archer, a 21-year-old striker eligible to play for Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz through his mother, featured in a three-goal blitz in six minutes as Middlesbrough battled back from a goal down to keep their slim English Championship automatic promotion hopes alive here Wednesday.

Behind 1-0 at half-time at the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough came away with a 3-1 victory over Hull City – their second win in six days following their 5-1 thrashing of Norwich City.

The goal was Archer’s ninth for fourth-placed Boro since he joined them on loan from Premier League club Aston Villa in January.

The Tigers took a deserved lead before the break when Allahyar Sayyadmanesh headed home Adama Traore’s near-post corner in 41 minutes.

Scotland youth international Hayden Hackney equalized for the hosts on 55 minutes with a composed finish from substitute Isaiah Jones’ low center. Archer slotted them into the lead three minutes later when the Hull defense failed to deal with a long ball up the pitch.

Championship top scorer Chuba Akpom then rifled home his side’s third and his 29th goal to secure the points.

Akpom, 27, born in London to Nigerian parents, scored in nine successive home matches.

Michael Carrick’s men, who must win their final three games and hope Sheffield United pick up a maximum of one point from their remaining four matches to secure second place, have now scored eight goals in their past two games.
