LONDON, CMC – Antigua & Barbuda winger Ashley Nathaniel-George scored his fifth season goal. Maidenhead United condemned 10-man Wealdstone to their second home defeat 1-0 in an English National League mid-table clash on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old netted for the visitors in the 78th minute of their fifth-tier match at a windy, soggy Grosvenor Vale after the Stones captain Jack Cook was sent off for a second bookable offense three minutes before the half-time break.

Nathaniel-George was a threat from the first half when he had a shot saved by Stones goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst after his teammate Reece Smith’s run at goal ended with a sliding challenge from Charlie Barker in the first 15 minutes.

The Stones had two chances in the second half’s early exchanges, with shots from Charlie Seaman and substitute Corie Andrews going over the bar before Nathaniel-George broke the deadlock.

He cut into the box and curled the ball into the top corner following a quickly taken throw-in, sending the Magpies home with all three points and the confidence of eyeing a late run at the play-offs and a chance for promotion to League 2.

Maidenhead is 12th in the standings with 39 points, and they have lost only once in their past five matches. a
