SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, CMC – The Dominican Army says that in the last 24 hours, 109 Haitian migrants were arrested on the border with Haiti.
The officials report that 30 Haitians – 23 men, five women, and two minors were intercepted in the town of Dajabón on Wednesday and handed over to the General Directorate of Migration for their subsequent repatriation.
On the same day, in different sectors of the province of Monte Cristi, 79 illegal Haitians – 56 men, 18 women, and eight minors were intercepted.
According to army officials, as the crisis in Haiti worsens, each day, at least a hundred Haitians attempt to illegally enter the Dominican Republic in the Dajabón / Monte Cristi area.
