HAVANA, Cuba, The Sweden-Cuban Solidarity Association says the organization will be shipping two containers with donations collected in Sweden and Denmark to the Spanish-speaking Caribbean island as part of actions to counter the economic blockade imposed by the United States.
According to the president of the association, Zoltan Tiroler, the shipment includes 18 tons of items for the Cuban sectors of healthcare, education, agriculture, construction, and electronics.
The aid, expected to arrive in Cuba in January, is to be funneled to schools in eastern Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, and western Pinar del Rio provinces, as well as to hospitals east of Las Tunas.
Tiroler disclosed that the Swedish organization donated 55 thousand euros in 2022 to help Cuba face the US blockade, but the money transfer could not be carried out due to the embargo. Therefore another method was used to offer help to Cuban citizens.
