TAROUBA, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago Red Force won the Regional Super50 Cup when they defeated Leeward Islands Hurricanes by seven wickets in the final at the Brian Lara Stadium here Saturday.
Asked to chase a revised target of 138 in a rain-affected contest reduced to 43 overs per side, Red Force got home in the 24th over to clinch their 14th title.
Captain Darren Bravo scored 40 from 35 balls, while left-hander Nicholas Pooran saw Red Force over the line with a 20-ball unbeaten 39.
Leg-spinner Hayden Walsh (2-19) grabbed two late wickets, but his strikes came with the result all but assured for the hosts.
Earlier, fast bowler Terrance Hinds (3-16) and off-spinner Sunil Narine (3-17) finished with three wickets as Hurricanes were bundled out for 135 in the 42nd over.
Choosing to bat first, the Hurricanes never hit their straps, and only Jahmar Hamilton, with a top score of 62 off 102 balls, provided any resistance.
