PROVIDENCE, Guyana, CMC – South African openers Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi have put their side in a strong position at tea on the second day of the second Test against West Indies at Providence Stadium on Friday.
The pair put on 79 runs in an opening partnership to help the visitors wrestle the initiative from the West Indies in the post-lunch session.
Fast bowler Jayden Seales got the home side’s lone breakthrough when he had de Zorzi caught behind for 39.
However, Tristan Stubbs joined Markram at the crease, and the two have added 32 runs to give South Africa an overall lead of 127 runs heading into the day’s final session.
Markram is unbeaten on 43, while Stubbs is 17 not out.
