RAWALPINDI, Pakistan, CMC – West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder produced a brilliant bowling performance to bowl Islamabad United to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of the Pakistan Super League here on Friday.
Holder, named Player-of-the-Match, grabbed four wickets at a medium pace to help dismiss Lahore for just 139 in 19.2 overs at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Abdullah Shafique was the lone bright spark for Lahore, scoring 66 from 38 balls with six fours and three sixes.
After dismissing Mohammad Naeem for eight early on, Holder returned to grab the wickets of Jahandad Khan and David Weise in successive deliveries to reduce Lahore to 95 for seven.
He also accounted for captain Shaheen Shah Afridi for two to finish with figures of 4-24 from his four overs, while Shadab Khan took 3-25.
Colin Munro then cracked an unbeaten 59 from 42 deliveries, and Salman Agha finished on 41 not out to lead Islamabad to 143 for two from 17.4 overs.
