TAMPA, Florida, CMC – Zeko Burgess claimed four wickets as Bermuda began their preparations ahead of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Qualifier with an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Rebels Cricket Club in the President Cup here on Friday.

Burgess (4-7) was backed up by Sussex professional and new captain Delray Rawlins, along with all-rounder Kamau Leverock, who both picked up two wickets apiece, as the Rebels were skittled out for 48 in 12.3 overs after winning the toss at the Wesley Cricket Stadium.

Abhishek Pati and Manav Patel were the only batsmen to reach double figures with 14 each.

Leverock, the former captain, also made his presence felt with the bat, making 20 in a 47-run opening stand with Terryn Fray (22 not out), which carried Bermuda to the brink of victory before the former was caught down the ground attempting to clear the boundary.

Number three Tre Manders (two not out) sealed Bermuda’s lopsided win in the sixth over.

Bermuda was set to face Triad Dragons and Tampa Tigers in their remaining group matches on Saturday before flying to Argentina for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup Americas Sub-Regional Qualifier.

There they will take on Bahamas, Belize, Cayman Islands, and Panama and hosts Argentina after Suriname withdrew, with the top three teams joining Canada for the Americas Region Qualifier Finals in Bermuda in September.

The winner will clinch the last World Cup qualifying spot in the region.
