TORONTO, Canada, CMC – A brace of wickets from former West Indies white-ball captain Carlos Brathwaite, along with a cameo from Sherfane Rutherford, kept Montreal Tigers unbeaten in the Global T20 Canada with a seven-wicket victory over Mississauga Panthers.

Chasing 141 at CAA Centre here Sunday, Tigers overhauled their target in the 16th over with captain Chris Lynn top-scoring with 64 not out from 45 deliveries at the top of the order.

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan struck 36 from 24 balls, while the left-handed Rutherford chipped in with 27 from 20 deliveries.

Sent in earlier, Panthers recovered from eight for two in the second over to reach 140 for six from their 20 overs.

Brathwaite knocked over veteran left-hander Chris Gayle for just one in the second over, but New Zealander James Neesham lashed 54 from 35 deliveries while Navneet Dhaliwal struck 46 from 47 balls, and Azam Khan, a 19-ball 26.

Dhaliwal started the revival, counting half-dozen fours in a 45-run, third-wicket partnership with Azam Khan, who then put on a further 39 for the fourth wicket with Neesham, the 32-year-old clobbering four fours and two sixes.

In reply, Tigers were guided by Lynn after Muhammad Waseem perished for four in the second over with 12 runs on the board, the 33-year-old right-hander posting 60 for the second wicket with Shakib and 59 for the third with Rutherford, who belted four fours.

The victory was the second in as many matches for the Tigers, while the defeat for Panthers was their third in as many games.
