| Jackson Heights, NY — Chhaya CDC’s annual Chatpati Mela will be held on Saturday, September 24. After two years of hiatus due to the pandemic, Chhaya is pleased to bring back this beloved community event. The pandemic, coupled with the housing crisis, economic insecurity, and climate impact, have disproportionately impacted our community. Yet, our resilience shines through every day. On Saturday, we will celebrate this resilience and the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean culture, heal together, and look towards a brighter future. The event will showcase numerous cultural performances, local food, arts and crafts, cultural clothing, and merchandise vendors. Broad representation of community-based organizations and government outreach agencies is expected.
