CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC – The St. Lucia-based Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a Canadian-based organization to establish a framework for cooperation and strategic alignment.

The OECS Commission said the agreement had been signed with the not-for-profit association context to promote sustainable development in the region.

“The MOU highlights the OECS Commission and eco Next’s shared commitment to tackling major issues and seizing opportunities like business ecosystem development and the blue and green economy. It marks a crucial turning point in their collaboration.

“This partnership intends to make it easier to partner for implementing projects that will advance OU; both the OECS Commission and context are committed to encouraging mutual understanding, cooperation, and strategic alignment. The collaboration will involve sharing agendas of common interests, pooling resources and expertise when appropriate, and exchanging knowledge, information, and ideas.

‘’This collaboration will do a lot in helping to advance the agenda set by the OECS for the upcoming triennium. It will provide us with a modality for exchanging ideas, personnel, technology, and experience,” said OECS Director General Dr. Didacus Jules.

Chief Operating Officer and Director, International Business of Context Abbie Hodder expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “This is the beginning of a solid interregional collaboration for the benefit of both of our regions.

“So I am excited to get started… It is an opportunity to reinvigorate the already solid relationships within the region.”

The MOU signing is expected to unlock new avenues for progress, enabling the OECS Commission and context to tackle pressing issues in the region, including climate change, marine conservation, and renewable energy, the Commission said.
