BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, CMC – The St. Kitts-based Eastern Caribbean Central Bank(ECCB) says its Monetary Council has approved the replacement of the Queen’s image on the Eastern Caribbean (EC) currency.

“The proposed replacement is an emblem which depicts the flags of ECCB member countries,” the ECCB said in an advertisement, saying, “this image provides a more holistic reflection of the ECCU (Eastern Caribbean Currency Union).”

The ECCB serves as the central bank for the islands of Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts-Nevis, Montserrat, and Anguilla.

The successor to the British West Indies dollar, it has existed since 1965.
