PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC—The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) says a 3.8-magnitude earthquake rattled three countries on Monday night, nearly 12 hours after a similar quake was felt in the Leeward Islands.
In its statement, the SRC said that while there were no reports of injuries or damage associated with the quakes, the first one was felt at 8:59 a.m. (local time), while the second occurred at 9:02 p.m. (local time).
The second was located at Latitude: 13.29N, Longitude: 61.00W at a depth of 10 kilometers (km) and was felt 29 km northeast of Kingstown, the capital of St. Vincent and the Grenadine, 82 km south of Castries, in St. Lucia, and 145 km south of Fort-de-France, the capital of the French island of Martinique.
Earlier, the 3.8 magnitude earthquake was felt 42 km northwest of Basseterre in S. Kitts-Nevis, 122 km northwest in Brades, Montserrat, and 133 km northwest of St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
