MIAMI, Florida– British Virgin Islands (BVI) Premier Andrew Fahie was detained in Miami on charges related to conspiracy to import cocaine and money laundering.

The managing director of the BVI Port Authority, Oleanvine Maynard, was detained and taken into custody by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents at Miami-Opa-Locka Executive Airport.

The two government officials were in Miami for a cruise convention, and US media reports indicate they were arrested after meeting with undercover DEA agents posing as cocaine traffickers.

Authorities said Maynard’s son, Kadeem Maynard, was also arrested on Thursday in connection with the case, but not in Miami.
