According to an official statement, NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – Prime Minister Phillip Davis has held talks in the United States with Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah of Kuwait.
It said that the meeting, held in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, emphasized mutual respect and cooperation. Prime Minister Davis highlighted the recent appointment of Taran Mackey as Bahamian Ambassador to Kuwait and discussed the ongoing study for the redevelopment of Potters Cay, supported by the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development.
“Both leaders expressed optimism about finalizing a Civil Aviation Agreement to enhance air connectivity between the two nations. In addition, they discussed pending initiatives, such as agreements on double taxation, which are critical for advancing bilateral cooperation. The Kuwait Investment Authority also signaled its interest in increasing investments in The Bahamas,” the statement said.
It said Prime Minister Davis used the opportunity to underscore The Bahamas’ vulnerability to climate change and advocated for the swift operationalization of the loss and damage fund, urging developed countries to take action.
“His Highness expressed Kuwait’s understanding of the issue and showed openness to further discussions. Both parties concluded the meeting with a renewed commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties,” the statement added.
