LONDON, CMC – Organisers announced on Thursday that 200 meters world champion Shericka Jackson of Jamaica would be one of the most considerable talents taking to the track for the World Athletics Diamond League meet on Sunday, July 23, in the British capital.
Jackson is set to showdown with British sprint darling Dina Asher-Smith in the women’s 100m, which is one of the meet’s highlights.
“I am excited to be competing back in London, and for the first time over 100m in this stadium,” Jackson, a five-time Olympic medallist, said. “Last time I ran there (2019), I won the 400m, so I have good memories of racing on that track.”
Jackson sped to 10.82 seconds last month on home soil in Kingston, then finished second at the Diamond League opener in Doha, Qatar.
The 28-year-old earned world silver over 100m last summer in the American city of Eugene, then moved to sixth on the world all-time list when she sprinted 10.71 at the Diamond League meet in Monaco.
Jackson also sits second on the world all-time list for 200m with a time of 21.45 that she ran to win the world title last year.
